Hopper Showdown

Heres my list of hoppers and pretty much my impression of them:

Quote:
Viewloader Quantum: This is viewloaders super entry level hopper. Once you turn it on it stays on, no eye, no stopping. This will kill your batteries like crazy, i wouldnt reccomend this unless you are in a serious budget crisis and cannot afford $20 more for a better hopper.

Viewloader 9Volt Revolution: This is a step up. It has an infer-red eye that when it doesnt detect paint in the feed neck it will spin the paddle. Good system and better than nothing. You can do the 12V mod to it and use two 9v batteries to make it spin a little faster. This is a good beginner hopper and if necessary get this over the quantum

Viewloader 12Volt Revolution w/ X-Board: This it viewloaders best selling hopper. It boasts a feed rate of 13 BPS and with the X board the delay time from when it detects a gap to when it spins the paddle is alot shorter. I would reccomend this hopper to anyone with a mechanical marker or someone who does not shoot fast.

Viewloader Evolution2 w/ Y-Board: This is the next step up from the Revolution. It feeds 16BPS and has a nice egg shape (hence the nickname "Egg2." This is an awsome hopper and is a great hopper for those with electro markers that put out paint like crazy. With the new Z-Board upgrade the Egg can now do 21.5 BPS and is perfect for those hardcore players with super fast markers

Ricochet 2k: This is a very different design for a hopper. It gained popularity not too long ago but quickly dissappeared. The interesting shape of the hopper is supposed to deflect paint and offer a smaller target to your opponent. The downfall of the hopper is that it is only a 9volt hopper therefore its feed capability is severly limited. If you get hit in your hopper alot then this may be for you but you can always learn to hold your marker better.

Ricochet AK: The "economy" version of the ricochet series sporting a LED instead of the high tech LCD screen on the Ricochet 2k.

Ricochet Rhino: This is their entry level hopper. This is pretty much a quantum within the richchet shells.

Halo B: This is the only forcefed hopper in the market currently. It boasts a constant feed rate of 23 BPS. The huge price tag of $100+ and low paint capacity of 160 balls is its downfall. This hopper can keep up with most high end markers and will fling paint like no other. If you need speed then this is THE hopper to get. You will not be dissappointed with this hopper

Halo TSA: This is halo's gravity fed hopper. The TSA stands for Tilt Sensor Activation or in english it will spin the paddles if it senses that your hopper is tilted. This comes in handy when you stick your gun out of your bunker to fire. Its maximum feed capability is around 13-14 BPS and is a good hopper for its price ($80). It comes in two models the Backman which has a larger capacity, and the Frontman which has a smaller capacity but is smaller. Each one of these models come in two different styles, the LCD with a higher price tag or the LED which is less expensive. I would reccomend this as an upgrade over the Revolution 12V as it spins when it is tilted but other than that it will not feed extremely fast if you are looking for speed.
Taken from my ultimate upgrade guide.

Name of Hopper: Viewloader Revolution 12volt

Likes: Mechanical hopper, feeds at an ok speed. X board makes it slightly faster. Holds a good amount of paint. Solid backup hopper

Dislikes: It will never feed as fast as i need it to. New shells are weak, i've seen alot of revvys with broken feednecks.

Would you reccomend it? Why?
Yes. Its a solid hopper (when it doesnt break) and most people dont need the high speed shooting that it doesnt deliver. If your looking into getting a good mech hopper then grab a revvy. Its simple to take apart and to clean you just wipe it down. The X-board gives it a little boost but if you want it to be alot better get the empire reloader, or revvy to reloader kit.

Name of Hopper: Viewloader Evolution 2 w/ Y board

Likes: Fast, reliable, holds alot of paint. W/ new Zboard coming out it can compete with the halo b.

Dislikes: Sits on the back of your gun. Feels weird but you get used to it. Kinda large. Will never feed as fast as the halo b.

Would you reccomend it? Why?
Yes with the new z board coming out if you can grab yourself a used one for cheap, $50 and below, then get one. Great for those high end guns out there that need a fast hopper.

Re: Hopper Showdown

Name of Hopper: Halo

Likes: fast, allows me to shoot in any position > sideways, upside down.

Dislikes: ball breaks in the hopper are hard to clean quickly

Would you recommend it? Why? : Yes, because they're fast and because it is force-fed, I can peg you by sliding my marker under a bunker and not misfeed

Re: Hopper Showdown

like the Warp Feed, the Q Loader IMO, has no place in tourney play. I did get to shoot it though at last year's NPPL NJ and it's pretty fast.

Re: Hopper Showdown

basically here it is.....

light and reliable........revolution w/x board and older edition shells

fast and reliable........eVLution loader with z board

very fast and reliable(80%).......halo b with rip drive and z code

stupid fast and reliable(75%).......empire reloader b

faster..........add victory board.....

all in all biggest factor is application......for recball i would recommend the revolutions....light simple easy to clean....for speedball purposes an egg or halo will do depending on preference.....for the ultimate in chucking paint ...reloader b's are king.....

so decide on your game play and what ur gonna use it for and decide there...

so unless you play recball with a nxl ramping dm4.....u really dont need a crazy fast halo.....
